Epiphone - 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue Washed Bourbon Burst + Etui
The Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Standard Reissue Iced Tea Burst, from the Custom collection and inspired by Gibson models, revisits a lutherie standard with formidable fidelity. It features a pair of Gibson Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups that reproduce the warmth of vintage tones with surgical precision. These are mounted on a solid mahogany body, a carved maple top with AAA flamed veneer and a 1959 Rounded C Medium neck. This Reissue model is as much about looks as it is about technical details, with a Vintage Gloss finish, Deluxe vintage tuners and nickel-plated hardware. All of which is comfortably housed in a delightfully vintage brown hard case lined with pink plush.
Presentation
With its mahogany neck glued to the Rounded C Medium profile, you'll find that thick, reassuring grip that marked a whole generation of guitarists. And if you're suddenly feeling like Peter Green, don't worry, the Custombucker Alnico 3 will be there to support your sobbing solos or rough riffs, depending on the mood of the day.
Every detail of this Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Standard Reissue has been designed to revive memories of a legendary model without reproducing collector's fare. There are unexpected features, such as the mother-of-pearl key markers in the shape of a trapezium, and the side markings that are faithful to the period specimens.
Even the CTS potentiometers and Bumblebee capacitors in oiled paper play the vintage game to the hilt, with a sound that seems to look you straight in the eye.
The Washed Bourbon Burst finish, halfway between a caramel slick and the setting sun over Nashville, gives this revisited Les Paul all its visual cachet.
And to avoid end-of-concert debates about who scratched what, Epiphone thought to provide a hard brown case with a candy-pink interior. A real retro cocoon for a guitar that has nothing to envy its elders, apart from the need for an alarm to stop it being stolen.
