With the nEar i5, ESI Audiotechnik is continuing the evolution of its range of studio monitors by offering a proximity loudspeaker designed for modern working environments. This model follows in the footsteps of the historic nEar series, while incorporating technical choices adapted to the needs of producers, musicians and creators who are looking for reliable listening right from their first steps in the studio.

The architecture is based on an active two-way design, controlled by DSP, combined with Class D amplification. The 5-inch bass driver uses a paper fibre cone selected for its rigidity and acoustic behaviour, while the 1-inch silk dome tweeter ensures smooth, controlled high-frequency reproduction. This combination produces a coherent bass and low-midrange response, with good legibility of vocals, instruments and mix elements.

Integrated digital processing plays a central role in the behaviour of the nEar i5. It maintains an extended, even response, while offering simple equalisation settings to adapt the speaker to its environment. The bass and treble crossovers, which can be adjusted in stages, make it easy to adjust the speaker to suit the placement or acoustics of the room. A sound character selector also lets you switch between a listening mode and a more analytical mode, useful during mixing or correction phases.

The bass reflex design with front port allows installation close to walls without excess in the low end of the spectrum, which is particularly relevant in small spaces. Balanced and unbalanced inputs allow easy integration with most audio interfaces and monitoring controllers. A multi-coloured LED indicator provides constant feedback on operating status, standby mode and signal overload.
