With this Gretsch Catalina Club CC2-J483-SWG drum kit, you're playing a series that marked an important turning point in Gretsch's history. Catalina Club was the first of the brand's ranges to be made outside the USA, while retaining a strong sonic identity. The choice of 7-ply mahogany gives the sound a warm, round and musical aesthetic.
The 30° bevel promotes rapid skin response and precise tuning, even at low tension. The result is an open sound without stiffness, particularly suited to dynamic playing. The Remo Ambassador heads are fitted as standard, so you can work on your tone right from the start.
The 18 "x14" bass drum brings a marked presence to the lower end of the spectrum, while retaining a defined attack. This format is equally suited to modern jazz, blues, soul and pop projects. The 12 "x8" tom develops a clear, balanced projection. The 14 "x14" bass tom reinforces the rhythmic base with a controlled, even bass.
The 1.6 mm triple-flange hoops let the drum vibrate freely, adding to the kit's natural character. The wooden hoops on the bass drum add to the coherent sound and vintage aesthetic. The Mini GTS system and 'Gas Cap' mounting limit stress points on the barrel.
Finally, the Satin Walnut Glaze finish elegantly highlights the wood grain.
