Presentation
The HEDDphone D1 marks a turning point in the design of audiophile headphones: it is the first model in the world to use TPCD technology, an ultra-thin-layer carbon diaphragm originally developed for extreme applications such as Formula 1 racing and NASA missions.
This architecture allows resonances to be controlled directly within the transducer structure, without the need for traditional damping materials. The result is faster response, more accurate behaviour and highly consistent sound reproduction across the entire audible spectrum.
HEDD has worked for almost a decade on this concept in collaboration with Composite Sound in Sweden, specialists in Thin-Ply carbon. This know-how is combined with the experience of Klaus Heinz, founder of the brand and a renowned figure in the design of monitoring loudspeakers. The approach consists of adapting a studio requirement to personal use, with the aim of obtaining headphones capable of faithfully reproducing sonic intent without coloration.
With an impedance of 32 ohms and a sensitivity of 100 dB, the HEDDphone D1 is versatile and can be used with both dedicated amplifiers and high-end audio interfaces. Its 350g weight and optimised transducer structure contribute to a high level of comfort, even during long listening sessions.
Each unit is made in Germany, with a level of finish that prioritises repairability. The TPCD diaphragm, produced exclusively in Sweden, is subject to strict quality control. HEDD backs this model with a 5-year guarantee, underlining its professional orientation.
