Unlike traditional dynamic transducers, the ultra-thin diaphragm is set in motion over its entire surface by a matrix of neodymium magnets positioned front and back. This symmetrical excitation results in extremely fast response, very low distortion and more faithful reproduction of transients, micro-details and reverberation tails. The bass remains firm and defined, with no artificial swelling, while the upper end of the spectrum remains highly legible.

The open architecture of Planar the II plays an essential role in this natural reproduction. It eliminates the acoustic pressure and resonance phenomena typical of closed headphones, offering a more open soundstage and a better perception of space.
