Presentation
With the Planar the II, Avantone has taken the concept of planar reference headphones accessible to audio professionals one step further. This second generation builds on the experience gained with the original model to refine every aspect of sound reproduction, comfort and mechanical design. The objective remains clear: to offer headphones capable of revealing the finest details of a mix without excessive coloration or auditory fatigue.
Magnetic planar technology is at the heart of Planar the II. Unlike traditional dynamic transducers, the ultra-thin diaphragm is set in motion over its entire surface by a matrix of neodymium magnets positioned front and back. This symmetrical excitation results in extremely fast response, very low distortion and more faithful reproduction of transients, micro-details and reverberation tails. The bass remains firm and defined, with no artificial swelling, while the upper end of the spectrum remains highly legible.
The open architecture of Planar the II plays an essential role in this natural reproduction. It eliminates the acoustic pressure and resonance phenomena typical of closed headphones, offering a more open soundstage and a better perception of space. This choice makes it a particularly relevant tool for mixing, mastering and audio editing, where spectral balance and stereophonic precision are paramount.
Avantone has also paid particular attention to comfort. The Planar the II is lighter than the previous generation, with wrap-around earpads for long working sessions. The high-quality detachable cable can be connected either left or right, making it easy to integrate into any studio environment. The package is completed by an eco-responsible carry bag, designed to protect the headphones and their accessories on a daily basis.
