This electric guitar is built around a basswood body, a wood that offers a balanced sound, with warm lows and well-defined highs. Its vibrant color accentuates its retro look while offering a modern and bold allure on stage.
Its thin and fast five-piece maple and walnut Super Wizard neck is one of the major assets of this instrument. Designed to facilitate the execution of complex techniques, it allows for optimal playing comfort, especially for fast solos and extended chords.
The maple fingerboard, decorated with black dot markers, adds an aesthetic touch and contributes to a bright tone and pronounced mids, ideal for excellent sound definition.
On the electronic side, the RG550-RF is equipped with a trio of pickups: the V7 in the neck position, the S1 in the middle position and the V8 in the bridge position. These passive pickups offer an extended sound range. The V7, with its ceramic character, produces clear and bass-rich sounds, perfect for solid rhythms.
The S1, in the middle position, provides a smooth and balanced tone in single coil mode, while the V8 in the bridge position, thanks to its Alnico magnets, offers a powerful and sharp tone, ideal for aggressive solos and percussive riffs.
The Edge bridge, a classic at Ibanez, ensures great tuning stability while allowing precise pitch variations thanks to a fluid and reliable tremolo system. Combined with the locking nut, this system guarantees tuning stability even during intensive use of the vibrato.
