The Californian company, renowned for designing quality pieces, has chosen acacia for this particular model.
This wood is often compared to koa, a rarer material highly appreciated by luthiers for the manufacture of Hawaiian ukuleles.
And for good reason, the figuration of acacia is very close to that of koa: very varied grain patterns, marked especially by wavy lines.
In addition, solid acacia also produces a clear and warm sound. During its break-in time, its sound profile continues to evolve and enrich itself.
The acacia here benefits from a satin finish that blends perfectly with the mahogany neck and the rosewood fingerboard.
Kala also chooses to enhance this tenor-sized instrument with small aesthetic elements that make all the difference: from the rosette to the maple binding, including the openwork headstock and the fingerboard markers.
