Korg - Poetry
The Poetry is a unique 88-key digital piano! Presented during the 2024 NAMM Show, the Poetry is designed for music lovers and Chopin enthusiasts the world over, offering an immersive musical experience that will transport you into the enchanting world of this legendary composer. The RH-3 (Real Weighted Hammer Action 3) keyboard, chosen by Korg for the Poetry, offers a playing sensation similar to that of an acoustic piano. Its differentially weighted keys offer greater resistance in the bass and lighter resistance in the treble, faithfully reproducing the touch of a traditional piano. A visually appealing instrument, its elegant, refined design is inspired by the refined world of Chopin. Its 'Poetic Brown' wood front evokes the softness and warmth of a classical piano, while the gold pedals and keys give the instrument a touch of luxury and sophistication.
Presentation
It features two distinct piano sounds, each inspired by iconic instruments associated with Chopin:
- The first faithfully reproduces the sound of Chopin's PLEYEL piano, a rare and precious instrument made in the 19th century. Thanks to Korg's high-quality sampling technology, the Poetry lets you enjoy the authentic experience of a PLEYEL piano without the hassle of regular maintenance and adjustment.
- The second sound is that of a contemporary Italian piano, highly prized by world-renowned pianists, notably at the prestigious Frédéric Chopin International Piano Competition. This sound offers a rich, deep expressive palette, perfect for playing the artist's most demanding works.
Korg has equipped it with practical features to help you improve your technique and creativity:
- Layer mode, which lets you combine two different sounds to create original musical textures.
- Partner mode, ideal for playing in duet with another pianist.
- The sequencer lets you record your performances and listen to them again to improve.
The 1843 Pleyel piano featured in Poetry is a remarkable instrument, made when Chopin was 33. Transported to Japan in its original condition from its home in France, painstaking restoration efforts have been undertaken to preserve it as close as possible to its original 1843 condition.
This model is renowned for its ability to articulate music with delicate expression, emphasising nuanced subtleties rather than the sheer power of fortissimo. It is a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship that went into creating an instrument that resonates with beauty and musical sensitivity.

From an early age, he showed remarkable musical ability and received a rigorous classical musical training that enabled him to develop his own compositional and playing techniques.
His works are characterised by their lyrical melodies, colourful harmonies and virtuoso passages, and touch the hearts of music lovers the world over.
Chopin was deeply influenced by Polish culture, even though he left his native country at the age of 20 to settle in Paris. In his compositions, he evokes the landscapes, traditions and feelings that link him to Poland. His work reflects his Polish pride and identity, which he carries in his heart even far from his native land.
Chopin is considered to be one of the greatest composers and pianists of all time. His influence on classical music is immense, and his works continue to fascinate music lovers the world over.
"If I'm not in top form, I prefer to play on an Érard, for its brilliant, ready-to-use sound. But if I feel alert, ready to make my fingers work without tiring, then I prefer a Pleyel." This statement by Chopin has become famous.
In the 1830s in France, when Chopin began living in Paris, there were two major piano manufacturers, Érard and Pleyel.
Whereas the Érard pianos were characterised by their magnificent tone, rich volume and ease of play, the Pleyel pianos were soft and delicate, sensitive to the slightest change of touch and were supposed to be instruments that required a great deal more control. The variety of sounds produced by the Pleyel was essential to Chopin's works, and it was his favourite musical partner.
