Presentation
The Lindell Audio OPA 1731 is a modern reinterpretation of an iconic discrete operational amplifier, directly inspired by the Melcor 1731, considered the historic predecessor of the famous 2520. This type of OPA contributed greatly to the sonic signature of vintage analogue consoles and equipment, and remains sought after today for its musicality and instantly recognisable character.
Designed around an entirely discrete architecture, the OPA 1731 favours fluid reproduction, with a natural transient response and solid bass, while retaining excellent midrange clarity. Its soundstage is often described as soft but assertive, with a sensation of punch and density that adds relief to sound recordings and dynamic processing or equalisation.
The OPA 1731 is fully compatible with the standard 1731/2520 pinout format, making it interchangeable and easy to integrate into a wide range of devices without modification. It is designed to work as a direct replacement, without any special adjustment, in Lindell Audio 6X-500, 7X-500, PEX-500 Rev.2 and 18Xs MkII modules, but also in other equipment accepting this format.
This component is aimed at users wishing to subtly adjust the sound signature of their equipment, refine the character of a preamplifier or equaliser, or restore a more organic analogue approach to a modern processing chain. The Lindell Audio OPA 1731 is therefore a simple and effective solution for bringing an authentic vintage touch to today's equipment, without compromising on reliability or compatibility.
