The MXR bass preamp combines an immaculate bass preamp with studio-quality direct output in a Phase 90 enclosure, delivering clean sound without hogging precious pedalboard space. Use it to add a new voice to an old passive bass, sweeten any amp or put a special sauce on a particular song. Compose it exactly the way you want it and send it straight home, before or after EQ, thanks to the built-in direct output.

This bass preamp combines a clean preamp with studio-quality direct output so you can tailor your sound to any scenario, live or recorded.
It features separate input and output level controls and a 3-band EQ section with sweepable mids (250 Hz to 1 kHz) for extended tonal flexibility.
Everything is made super clean with high headroom thanks to Constant Headroom Technology, and you can use the PRE/POST EQ switch to define whether or not your Direct Out signal is affected by the bass preamp's EQ section.
And of course, the bass preamp has a GROUND LIFT switch in case you encounter ground loop hum.
The bass preamp is factory preset to operate as a Buffer bypass on the 1/4" output and as an active direct output.
For musicians who wish to use only the 1/4" output, two internal switches allow the direct output and 1/4" output buffered bypass to be disabled for true 1/4" output bypass mode.
