The MB301 Bass Synth Pedal from MXR is a condensation of groove concentrated in analogue circuits. Developed in collaboration with Ian Martin Allison, it invites you to explore a retro-futuristic palette of sounds, somewhere between Stevie Wonder and Nine Inch Nails. Thanks to its hairy sub-octaves, spatial modulations and nervous envelopes, every note played becomes a cosmic event. All without the need for a doctorate. Just plug it in, sculpt it, modulate it, and your bass is teleported into another dimension. And because Ian doesn't do things by halves, 8 presets directly inspired by legendary tracks are on hand to deliver sounds that slam right from the first attack.

The MXR MB301 isn't afraid to show its ambitions. Its controls let you shape your sound by hand, with as much finesse as a potter's wheel, only funkier. You can enrich the signal with additional oscillators (thanks to the Voice control), and sculpt the ideal waveform via Shape, between a smooth triangle, a roaring sawtooth and a squared-off square. Each setting is designed to interact with your playing. Press a note and let the pedal make the synth speak.

For the more inquisitive and fiddly, the MB301 Bass Synth also hides a secret trapdoor full of delights. Oscillator Mix, modulation, compression, tracking style... it's all there to fine-tune the attack, adjust the dynamic response or make your walls vibrate.

Need a hand during a song? Plug in an external switch or expression pedal and change presets by foot, like a bass conductor. True Bypass ensures that your signal remains as clean as a new bass when the effect is switched off. And if you like a wide sound, switch to stereo. It's allowed. And highly recommended.

The MXR MB301 Bass Synth pedal is for bassists who want to get off the beaten track, whether it's to spice up their funk set, texturise an electro passage or surprise them with a reggae line that's a little too tame. It will fit perfectly into an already well-stocked pedalboard, offering a refreshing playground for exploring other sonic colours.

To take things even further, consider adding an expression pedal or Tap Tempo switch. A good jack cable, a stable 9V power supply, and you're ready to put on your interstellar boots.
