Electric Guitar Effects

The PEC-2 offers unprecedented control over your pedalboard. Program the effects combinations you need for your set using its 8 independent effects loops, then recall them via a switch or MIDI control. It can store up to 84 different programs, which should be more than you'll ever need. But the PEC-2 is more than just an effects switcher, offering a range of features that can greatly enhance your capabilities and versatility on stage or in the studio. Loops 1 to 5 are connected in series. When a loop is deactivated, the corresponding SEND output is muted so that no signal is sent to the connected effects unit. This eliminates the possibility of unwanted oscillation due to crosstalk when high-gain effects are used.

All loops are S.C.T. (Single Contact True-bypass) circuits, so when a loop is bypassed, the signal passes through only one relay circuit for maximum reliability and sound quality.

Loops 6 to 8 are independent.
Loop sockets 6 to 8 SEND can also be used as N.C. (Normally Closed) latching switches, and loop sockets 6 to 8 OUT can be used as N.O. (Normally Open) connectors for remote amplifier channel switching.
Even the ground lines are independent, so you can use these loops as control switches for multiple devices without having to worry about ground loop problems.

The separate loops can be used as mute loops, A/B switches and for many other utility functions.

When five serial loops aren't enough for your system, you can connect the separate loop IN and loop OUT sockets together to provide up to eight serial loops.

Two of the separate loops can be used together as a stereo loop.

MIDI IN and OUT / THRU connectors are provided to enable MIDI communication with external equipment.
The PEC-2 can also be used as a MIDI pedal.
MIDI control change numbers can be assigned to the switches as required, allowing the PEC-2 to be used in a wide range of MIDI systems.
When two PEC-2 units are connected in link mode, the MIDI IN and OUT / THRU connectors on both units can be used.

When a PEC-2 unit is used with a second PEC-2 in remote mode, only the MIDI IN and OUT / THRU connectors of the MASTER unit are available.
The MIDI connectors on the SLAVE unit are not operational.

The PEC-2 mute circuit is located just before OUT-1 and OUT-2.
The MUTE switch can operate independently, without being affected by the recalled programme.

Two modes of mute deactivation are available: Manual, in which the mute is deactivated manually via the MUTE switch, and Automatic, in which the mute will also be deactivated whenever a programme switch is pressed.

The PEC-2 has 84 independent memory locations (7 programmes x 12 banks).
A memory protection function is provided to prevent accidental changes to the memory contents.

Link mode: two PEC-2 units can be linked to operate as an effects controller, handling up to 16 loops.
When PGM mode is selected, recalling a program on either unit will also recall the same program on the second unit.
In DIRECT mode, loops on either unit can be directly activated or deactivated as required.

Remote mode: one PEC-2 unit can be located on stage while another is backstage, and either can be used as a remote control unit.
One unit is designated as the master and the other as the slave, and the settings stored in the master unit are recalled.

The PEC-2 buffer is a proven design offering superior performance.
A high-performance 15-volt power supply ensures a wide dynamic range.
Although the signal level is not affected, the Buffer fortifies the signal so that it is less susceptible to degradation.

Separate buffered and unbuffered inputs and outputs are provided so that fuzz units and other effects that might exhibit a change in tone if connected after the buffer can be connected before the buffer circuit.

The mains adaptor provides twice the required power and will maintain stable operation even if the mains supply drops to around 80% of its rated voltage.
Heat generation is effectively minimised, ensuring stable operation even in relatively hot environments.
