The RME DPS-2 provides a particularly clean and stable 12 V power supply to compatible audio equipment. Its design combines a linear power supply, enhanced mains filtering and two separate output stages, including a µFilter capable of reducing noise to just a few microvolts.

In an audio system, the quality of the power supply is not simply a matter of providing sufficient voltage. Mains interference, load-related fluctuations and ground loops can all affect the performance of particularly sensitive equipment. It is with this in mind that the RME DPS-2, a linear audio power supply, was developed to provide a stable and heavily filtered 12 V source.
Its power supply is based on a 60 VA toroidal audio transformer featuring an isolation winding and magnetic shielding, supplemented by dual HF and DC filtering on the mains supply. Two output configurations are available: a ‘Linear’ output, which utilises a 30,000 µF capacitor bank and active filtering, and a ‘µFilter’ output, which employs several stages of filtering to achieve a noise level of less than a few microvolts.
The µFilter output also benefits from RME’s Sensor Technology. The system directly measures the voltage at the DC connector of the powered device and adjusts the output to minimise voltage fluctuations caused by the load or the cable. It thus delivers 12.0 V with exceptionally low load regulation and a stated output impedance of just 0.012 ohms, including the cable.
The DPS-2 also provides a solution to ground-loop issues thanks to its GND Lift switch, which allows the DC ground to be isolated from the protective earth whilst maintaining the safety connection to the chassis. An additional earth terminal is also available.
With its compact design inspired by the ADI-2 series, its LED indicators configurable in AutoDark mode and its protection against overloads, overheating, short circuits and undervoltage, the DPS-2 is a specialised power supply for 12 V audio equipment that is sensitive to the quality of its power source.
