Preamps

Twelve-channel, remotely controllable mic preamplifier with uncompromised A/D conversion, built-in AVB and MADI connectivity and a host of features designed to make it an ideal companion for any professional recording. The PAD-free microphone input stages have a gain range of 75dB and accept signals up to +18dBu. On the converter side, the 12Mic boasts an exceptional signal-to-noise ratio on all channels. The twelve XLR inputs on the front panel accept mic and line level signals, while the first four connections also accept TRS connectors, with a switchable high impedance (Hi-Z) for instruments.

The RME 12Mic features twelve microphone and line-level inputs with uncompromised studio-quality digital conversion, remotely controllable gains, built-in MADI and AVB connectivity, and a host of additional features designed to make it the ideal companion to any professional recording setup.

MADI coaxial and optical I/O (via SFP module) are available for independent or redundant operation, and can be used for MADI signal chaining, merging and conversion with incredibly low latency. Three ADAT optical outputs provide up to 24 channels of audio at a single speed (for example, a combination of microphone inputs, MADI signals and AVB signals), or 12 channels of output at a sampling rate of 96 kHz, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of audio interfaces. In addition, ADAT ports can also be used to send return mixes from AVB or MADI inputs to existing DACs/headphone amps.

Control all device states directly from the front panel for convenient, direct access to all features. RME AVB units can also be fully controlled remotely via a web interface over any network link (including wireless via Wi-Fi), allowing rapid creation of gain groups, phantom power switching and routing of signals to headphones for monitoring. The integrated routing matrix allows rapid routing of all analogue inputs directly to the headphone output, as well as all digital signals and AVB streams. As such, solving signal, synchronisation, connectivity or other problems is both simple and straightforward!

For the first time, RME offers an AVB device with two fully redundant network ports, based on MILAN recommendations. The RME AVB Core has meticulously implemented IEEE standards for audio streaming, discovery and control, allowing RME devices to be both discovered and fully controlled by any AVB controller, and making vendor-specific control protocols a thing of the past. Any signal reaching 12Mic can be routed and broadcast over a network with fixed latency and guaranteed bandwidth - no switch configuration required!

In digital audio, the clock frequency is an essential factor, as it creates the correlation between the audio bits and the time reference. Unfortunately, the clock frequency is not always as stable as desired. The 12Mic offers full SteadyClock FS performance for the lowest jitter and highest jitter immunity.

Excellent performance in all clock modes and high-quality analogue conversion so you can hear your mix just as it is. Digital format conversion in RME products is done without any loss or degradation, and SteadyClock FS ensures that your sound image will never be degraded. This optimises recordings and mixes because the soundstage has more depth and clarity.
