Rme - MADI 1m Simplex
Measuring 1 metre in length, the RME MADI 1m Simplex offers greater flexibility for establishing an optical MADI link between two compatible devices. This SC-to-SC digital audio cable uses 62.5/125 µm multimode fibre and is particularly suitable for connecting MADI interfaces in a studio, control room or digital audio system.
Presentation
MADI, or AES10, is a digital audio communication standard designed to transmit multiple channels between a transmitter and a receiver. An optical MADI cable can therefore be used in various set-ups: connecting a MADI audio interface to a converter, linking digital equipment, or connecting devices installed within the same technical environment. This technology is used in particular in recording studios and digital audio control rooms.
The Simplex design is for one-way transmission. The RME MADI 1m Simplex is therefore intended for a connection where one piece of equipment transmits the signal whilst another receives it. Both ends use SC connectors, whilst the orange fibre, 2.5 mm in diameter, makes it easy to identify the cable within an installation comprising several connections.
This 1-metre length offers a practical compromise for an optical MADI cable in a rack or for an audio installation where the devices are not necessarily positioned immediately side by side. It also avoids the need for an excessively long cable when the distance between the interfaces is limited.
