The 526B has an immediately recognisable acoustic character: a dense, round low voice, without the surface gloss that sometimes betrays modern strings. This is the 'warm' sound we associate with the classical and romantic repertoires - a warm, unglistening tone that blends into the playing rather than overpowering it.
Its construction is based on a multifilament nylon core - several fine strands twisted together - which gives the string a suppleness that is typical of low-tension basses. The left hand works with less resistance, and fingering becomes more precise in the upper positions of the neck. The whole thing is sheathed in silver-plated copper wire, an alloy whose mass and smooth surface directly enhance the bass projection, that warm, woody grain.
The untreated finish is a deliberate choice: no varnish, no coating, nothing between the finger and the metal. The sound opens up immediately, without the slight attenuation of the first few centimetres that you feel on encapsulated strings. This 1.04 mm string, sold on its own under the designation E6, is part of the Traditionnelle 520B White Card series - a reference line for classical guitarists who renew their 6th string independently of other strings.
