The Steinberg Cubase Pro 15 DAC builds on the foundations of Steinberg's historic sequencer by extending its scope to include sound analysis, stem separation and vocal modeling.
The DAC version is entirely paperless: you receive your licence number by e-mail, then download the software without an activation card or physical media. Once installed, Cubase fits straight into a professional environment dedicated to music production, mixing, MIDI editing and post-production.
The core structure is based on an unlimited number of audio, MIDI and instrument tracks, supported by 256 group channels, 8 send sends and 64 returns. The audio engine operates in 64-bit float and supports sessions up to 192 kHz, helping to preserve the finesse of transients, the clarity of effects and the consistency of dynamic processing.
Users can load up to 64 VST instruments independently of tracks, organise their project around presets, templates and banks, then navigate between the various MixConsole windows as required.
The tools included open up a wide creative territory. The pack includes 11 VST instruments such as Writing Room Synths, Iconica Sketch, Verve and Trip, representing over 3,000 sounds and more than 50 GB of samples and loops.
The effects suite includes 94 audio treatments, including UltraShaper, VocalChain, Shimmer and Underwater. Modulators such as LFO, Wavefold, Random, Step Modulator or Macro Knob can control any parameter to enrich sound design. The Sampler Track provides a framework for immediate manipulation using envelopes, filters, pitch, legato and resampling options.
Version 15 introduces several essential new features. The Melodic Pattern Sequencer extends the programming logic initiated in the previous version, making the creation of phrases and melodies more dynamic. AI-based stem extraction isolates vocals, drums, bass and other elements from a complete file, a function absent from Cubase 14.
The Omnivocal tool (Beta) uses the Yamaha text-to-speech engine to generate a vocal track from notes and lyrics, making it easier to model vocals. Ergonomics have also improved, thanks in particular to the redesigned Hub, direct access to volume and panning on track headers and native full-screen support on macOS.
Editing tools such as VariAudio, Scale Assistant, the Logic Editor and multiple specialist editors (Key, Drum, Score, List, Patterns) support complex workflows. MIDI Remote integration enables rapid configuration of any controller, while loudness analysis, routing options, room control and snapshots make advanced mixes easy to manage. Cubase Pro 15 also remains Dolby Atmos compatible thanks to its ADM Authoring & Renderer function, making it possible to create immersive content. Finally, the DAWproject format is also available for export, enabling complete sessions to be exchanged with other software.
