Presentation
Part of the highly successful Apollo line of interfaces, used on numerous Grammy Award-winning albums and stream-topping songs, the Universal Audio Apollo x16 Heritage Edition Rackmount 18x20 Thunderbolt 3 audio interface combines the sound, feel and the flow of analog studio recording with improved clocking, surround monitoring, a serious pack of 34 exceptional UAD plug-ins and 50% more DSP than previous Apollos thanks to its HEXA Core real-time UAD processing overpowering.
Featuring Universal Audio's flagship 24-bit/192kHz conversion, the Apollo x16 allows engineers in commercial recording studios, concert tours and post-production facilities to confidently record and mix with detailed image, incredibly low distortion (-129 dB) and unrivaled dynamic range (133 dB). In addition, its switchable headroom setting makes level adaptation easier.
The interface features 16 balanced line-level analog inputs and outputs on DB25 connectors, perfect for connecting external mic preamps and custom signal chains or connecting to a large number of channels on a typical analog mixer.
You also get a pair of XLR monitoring outputs and an AES/EBU stereo input/output, which can be used when you need to connect a dedicated power supply to a mastering system or if you want to incorporate alternative stereo converters. Use the BNC wordclock input and output jacks to precisely synchronize internal timing or lock other digital equipment to the Apollo x16.
Thanks to the version of UAD software released in March 2023, you can now create immersive mixes using the most common formats, such as Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D or Sony 360 Reality Audio.

Exclusive to Universal Audio, Unison technology features proprietary hardware/software integration that accurately reproduces the sound of these legendary tube and solid-state mic preamps — including their input impedance and stage sweet spots. gain and circuit behavior of the original models.
You also find Unison technology on the Hi-Z instrument input on the front of the Apollo Twin X; it thus adapts the impedance and gain when you use guitar and bass amp models from Fender, Marshall, Ampeg, etc.
LUNA Recording System — Complete Integration with Apollo, for Fast and Intuitive Work
All Apollo X Series interfaces work with leading Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), including Logic Pro, Ableton Live and Pro Tools.
