DI Box

Warm Audio Direct Box Passive, passive direct box, passive DI at the best value for money.

ARTICLE N° 70111
Warm Audio has now added a passive DI to its catalogue.

Useful for any guitarist, bassist or keyboardist who doesn't want to alter the sound of their instrument, this passive DI box has been designed to maximise sound quality. But what's the point of a DI?

Even at this price level, Warm Audio continues to use the North American manufacturer CineMag for its transformers, and the printed circuit board has gold-plated tracks and its top-of-the-range components are discrete.

The beauty of this product is not just on the inside, it's on the outside too, with a solid aluminium chassis, and switches, knobs and connectors designed to last and withstand the hazards of an artist's life, whether on the road or in a recording or rehearsal studio.

As the icing on the cake, this DI is equipped with a Thru jack output linked to the 6.35mm jack input, so you can send the signal to another point in addition to the mixer or digital audio interface, such as your stage monitor. It's also very useful for hearing yourself without the latency caused by the source / sound card / sequencer (DAW) / sound card / headphone return or speakers.

Warm Audio's Direct Box Passive can also be used to send a line level signal to another line input while sending the microphone level signal via the DI's XLR output.
  • Warm Audio Direct Box Passive
  • Custom transformer CineMag USA
  • High-end component
  • PCB with gold-plated tracks
  • Robust aluminium chassis
  • Pad: variable from -3dB to -30dB for easy attenuation of any instrument input level
  • XLR balanced output: 600 Ohms, mic level
  • Input impedance: 1 MOhms
  • THD: 0.01% from 20 Hz to 100 Hz, < 0.004% from 100 Hz to 20 kHz
  • Frequency response: 20 Hz to 70 kHz at +/- 0.5 dB
A direct box converts an unbalanced, high-impedance signal to a balanced, low-impedance signal, for example to plug an electric instrument such as a guitar, bass, keyboard or drum machine directly into a mixer or sound card. By doing this, the signal from the instrument is converted to the correct level for the mixer or sound card, which avoids and eliminates the risk of distortion or deterioration of the signal.

Passive DI boxes are best suited to balancing instrument signals with active electronics. They also work very well with passive microphones thanks to their extended frequency response, compared with most DI boxes on the market.
