Warm Audio - JUDE MP2

The JUDE MP2 adapts the A-Range architecture to a configuration designed to handle two channels simultaneously. This version allows you to work with a pair of microphones or two separate sources whilst retaining the sonic character associated with the legendary circuitry of the Sound Techniques consoles installed at Trident Studios.

Each channel features a full preamplifier section and its own 9-position Z-Match impedance control. This system allows the preamplifier to be adapted to the microphone in use by varying its input impedance and, consequently, its interaction with the source. The choice between 60 Ω, 200 Ω and 1.5 kΩ allows you to explore different interactions between the microphone and preamp.

The amplification section adopts the A-Range’s discrete Class A 3035 design and utilises specially wound CineMag USA transformers. Warm Audio thus retains the fundamental elements of the original signal path rather than offering a mere modern interpretation of its operation.

Both channels feature the functions required for field recording: 48 V phantom power, polarity reversal, line-level switching and level indication via a VU meter. The inputs and outputs combine XLR and 6.35 mm jack connectors to facilitate the preamp’s integration into various studio environments.

With its two channels housed in a compact rack-mount unit, the JUDE MP2 is ideally suited to stereo recordings, microphone pairs and set-ups requiring two identical preamps. It can also serve as a dual preamp channel for simultaneously recording multiple sources within a studio system.
