The Black Lion B173 Quad offers a modern and effective approach to the famous British sound of the 70s, while remaining accessible for today's studios. This 4-channel preamplifier is directly inspired by the sonic character of the 1073, a reference well known for its ability to densify the bass, project the midrange and open up the upper end of the spectrum.

The circuit is entirely discrete in Class A, with Cinemag transformers at the input and output, a guarantee of musicality and harmonic richness. With 70dB of gain available, it is capable of feeding even the most timid ribbon microphones, without extraneous noise or compromising on clarity. The first two channels have a direct input on the front panel, very useful for connecting a bass or guitar, with a lively, characteristic grain.

Each channel has its own notched gain control, an output attenuator to control transformer saturation, a polarity inverter and independent phantom power.
