Audio Interfaces

An 8-input, 16-output audio interface, Apogee's Symphony Studio 8x16 pushes the concept of immersive monitoring to its limits. With its internal DSP, precise spatial sound management and advanced calibration tools, it's a nerve centre for studios juggling multichannel without compromising on fidelity. Compatible with macOS and Windows, this interface combines Apogee's legendary converters, generous preamps and a flexible architecture designed for Dolby Atmos environments up to 9.1.6.

With Symphony Studio 8x16, Apogee puts you in control of a system that's as rigorous as it is flexible. It lets you orchestrate complex set-ups like 9.1.6 without needing an army of patchbays or a wizard's hat. Each loudspeaker can be adjusted to the dB thanks to room equalisation, bass management and diffusion delay, all integrated directly into the DSP.

Apogee has slipped a DSP engine into the Symphony Studio 8x16 that doesn't just look the part. The internal Channel Strip lets you shape the sound right from the input, with EQ, compression and saturation, all with no perceptible delay. Plug in, sculpt, record. Gone are the days when you had to juggle 3 plugins, a DAW restart and an incantation to get a clean signal. Here, everything is at your fingertips - and as a bonus, your processor can breathe.

The Symphony Studio 8x16's preamps are more welcoming than a sofa made of honeycomb foam. With 75dB of gain, they let even the most timid sources express themselves, without compromising on dynamics. In other words, you can capture the authenticity of your recordings without having to shout into the microphone or stack phantom amps. Even whispers get their 15 minutes of fame.

To get the most out of Symphony Studio 8x16, a good complement is the Apogee Control Remote: this little box lets you control your monitoring feeds without looking up from your coffee. Another tip: room calibration can be further refined if you pair it with a suitable measurement microphone. In short, your room acoustics will no longer have any excuse for doing anything at all.

Fun fact: Apogee made its name in the 80s by inventing custom anti-aliasing filters to improve audio conversion. Since then, they've turned their obsession with detail into interfaces that many would love to slip into their racks. So yes, the Symphony Studio 8x16 is modern, but it clearly has a family tree that oozes audio history.
