Motu - M2
The Motu M2 is a 2x2 USB audio/MIDI interface with 2 mic/line/instrument preamps, headphone output and RCA & 6.3mm jack outputs. Ideal for musicians, podcasters and producers.
Presentation
The device is powered via USB for optimum portability and ease of use. It includes a USB Type-C to Type-A cable to work with most computers. If your computer has USB Type-C ports, simply use a USB Type-C cable (available separately) to connect the two.
Alternatively, by using a USB Type-C power adapter, the M2 can be used as a stand-alone preamp and basic mixer, without a host computer. Simply engage the control knob for each input (and 48V phantom power, if required), and set the preamp gain. Connect the main outputs to any line-level destination, such as a PA or patch bay.
Equipped with the same ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC technology found in the audio interfaces used by pros, the M2 offers a dynamic range of 120dB on its main outputs. ESS converters also power the headphone output. Ultra-clean preamp circuits produce a measured EIN of -129dBu on the mic inputs, meaning that when you're recording, you'll only hear the mic, not the mic preamp.
The Motu M2 offers ultra-low latency for monitoring live inputs via your computer, thanks to the expertly designed MOTU USB drivers. These offer a round-trip latency of 2.5 ms, measured using a 32-sample buffer at 96 kHz.
The M2 driver provides loopback channels to your host computer, so you can easily capture your computer's output. Combine computer audio with live microphones while recording in your DAW, allowing you to capture guests on Skype or other VoIP programs. You can also use the looping function when broadcasting live on sites like Twitch.
The M2 sound card also features 5-pin MIDI I/O, so you can connect a MIDI controller, sound module or even a workstation keyboard without having to buy a MIDI interface. The M2's 6.3mm jack outputs are DC-coupled, so you can send MIDI data from your DAW as a CV to analogue synthesizers, Eurorack modules and sequencers.
The M2 comes with Ableton Live Lite and MOTU Performer Lite, popular and powerful DAWs for music recording and production. Over 100 instruments are also included for Performer Lite, as well as 6GB of unique loops, sounds and samples for both programs.
