Art PRO Audio - Pro Channel III
ART's Pro Channel III combines the elegance of 100% analogue with the flexibility of a modern strip. Every section exudes precision: Class A preamp with discrete FET transistors, 12AX7 tube for real warmth, and a complete circuit calibrated to sublimate every take. The compressor has 2 distinct modes, Tube/Opto for smooth, silky control, FET for more biting attacks. The semi-parametric 4-band EQ sculpts frequencies with surgical ease, while the order of the modules can be adjusted at the click of a button. Whether you want to tighten up a lazy bass or aerate a crystalline treble, this channel strip is remarkably consistent, like a faithful mix engineer at your service, always ready to guide your creativity.
Presentation
As for the compressor, it's no half-measure. ART has integrated 2 circuits with very distinct personalities: the Tube/Opto mode, soft and progressive, smoothes out peaks with elegance, while the FET mode adds bite and relief to more nervous instruments. Being able to swap its order with the EQ completely changes the way you shape the dynamics. It's the kind of flexibility that turns a simple take into a real studio moment.
On the EQ side, the 4-band semi-parametric EQ is amazingly accurate. The switchable low shelf works the bottom end of the spectrum with authority, and the low-mid and high-mid bands each cover more than 4 octaves for formidable versatility. At 12 kHz, the high shelf opens up space without aggression. Even subtle adjustments result in a more defined presence and a better-positioned stereo image.
In the field, this channel strip quickly becomes an indispensable companion. In the studio or on stage, the ability to use the front-panel instrument input turns the unit into a DI of impressive clarity. By plugging in your bass or guitar, you bypass the rear XLR input and go straight into the tube. The result is dense, full of nuance, without ever collapsing under compression. The independent bypass of each module lets you instantly compare your work. And when you listen to the recording again, you'll know why ART has earned its reputation: it's serious stuff that grooves.
