Avantone Pro - SSM

In a recording environment, unwanted vibrations are often one of the invisible but audible problems. A microphone stand, a boom or even the floor can transmit resonances that pollute the signal, particularly at the low end of the spectrum. Avantone's SSM suspension has been developed to address precisely this problem, providing effective mechanical decoupling between the microphone and its stand.

The structure of the SSM is based on a die-cast zinc chassis, identical to that used on the brand's C series microphones. This material provides rigidity, durability and extra mass to help dampen vibrations. The whole system inspires confidence as soon as you pick it up, and can easily withstand intensive use, whether in the studio or on the move.

The microphone is held in place by a system of four independent O-rings, which can be configured according to the diameter of the microphone body. These rings, made from a specific ethylene-propylene compound, retain their elasticity over time and withstand harsh conditions such as dry environments and high temperatures. This system provides a precise, secure fit for microphones between 19 and 22 mm in diameter.

Thanks to this design, the SSM effectively limits the transmission of low-frequency vibrations, whether they come from the floor, the microphone stand or accidental handling. The result is a cleaner recording, with a signal free from the mechanical noise that can creep in when recording vocals, acoustic instruments or delicate sources.
