With its 3-inch coil mounted on a fibreglass support, ferrite motor and 200mm-diameter magnet, this transducer inspires confidence as soon as you pick it up.

The whole unit is well ventilated, the thermal compression well controlled, and the mechanical behaviour perfectly framed by a double silicone spider and a wide suspension. In terms of figures, we're talking about 600 W AES, 1200 W in programme and an efficiency of 100 dB, which means it can deliver levels without forcing itself.

Its frequency response, which extends from 42 Hz to 3000 Hz, allows for flexible operation: it can be crossed relatively low or moved up into the midrange depending on the configuration. Its mechanical behaviour is clean, with a useful Xmax of ±7 mm and an exploitable displacement of up to ±8 mm, making it a good candidate for bass reflex loads of around 100 to 120 litres, tuned around 50 Hz.

The aluminium basket makes the whole unit a little lighter while ensuring rigidity, and the treatment of the diaphragm, sober and with no apparent varnish, is based above all on efficiency. The integrated demodulation ring reduces distortion at the top end of the spectrum, for a more stable and clearer reproduction in the areas where the midrange driver or the compression driver intersect.
