Presentation
Through their innovation and expertise in circuit tuning, BOSS engineers have made very special, precise adjustments to achieve the ideal “Brown sound.” Throughout history, there have been many remarkable stack amps, producing many complex harmonic changes caused by the addition of different distortions to each stage of tubes connected in series. By adjusting the balance of each stage, the basic distortion is created. But the basic sound is not always expressive enough. Very fine adjustments to the interactions of each distortion stage and many other parameters are very important. Furthermore, by adjusting the way the interactivity parameters respond to a note being picked, and by controlling how the distortions of each stage vary when the sound is sustained, a truly expressive sound can be created. Thanks to all the expertise accumulated by BOSS in distortion, and by Roland through its Tube Logic, the Waza "Brown sound" is not only a "Brown sound", but a sound whose expressiveness is also "Brown".

The power amplification section consists of a discrete solid-state amp. Two power transformers have also been incorporated to achieve a stable 150-watt output (more than the 100 watts of a conventional tube amp head) compatible with the 16-ohm impedance of the 4 x 12-inch speaker. The 150-watt potential provides a very wide headroom in clean sound. This incomparable design makes the transformer section very heat-resistant. It took many BOSS-style torture tests to achieve this result. In the Waza Amp, the two transformer sections are dedicated, one for the preamp and the other for the power amp. This gives a more lively sound, since the interaction between these two elements is precisely controlled. The separation of the transformers also prevents an unexpected connection between the two sections they supply. The noise is thus considerably reduced for an amp with so much power, and the sound presence is greatly improved.
