Presentation
The Cayin HA-2A is a valve headphone amplifier designed to fully exploit the capabilities of a wide range of headphones and earphones. Its architecture is based on air-wound components connected point-to-point, a design combined with a power transformer developed to minimise noise and distortion whilst ensuring a stable power supply to the circuits.
For amplification, the Cayin HA-2A utilises a selection of Amperex NOS tubes, comprising two ECF82/6U8s in the input stage and two 17BF11s in the power stage, complemented by an RCA 17AX4GT rectifier tube. This configuration operates in pure Class A and delivers up to 1000 mW per channel via the balanced XLR output.
To accommodate different headphones, the unit features a three-position gain selector covering impedances between 8 and 600 ohms. It also features three headphone outputs: a 6.35 mm jack, a balanced 4.4 mm jack and a balanced XLR.
In terms of connectivity, the Cayin HA-2A features an RCA input and an XLR input, allowing it to be easily connected to a DAC, a network player or a CD player. Its thick metal chassis and damping feet help to reduce vibrations and interference.
