D'Angelico - Deluxe Bedford SH Desert Gold

In the Desert Gold finish, the Bedford SH tells a different story to its Atlantic cousin. Here, there’s no stocky single-cutaway: an offset, semi-solid body, featuring a contoured F-hole, crafted from solid alder — the sides, back and top are all made from the same wood from start to finish. The wood feels light under the fingers, the vibration flows freely without being lost, and the bass retains its roundness without ever becoming muddy.
The three-piece C-shaped neck gradually widens from 20 mm at the first fret to 22 mm at the twelfth, creating a grip that naturally deepens along the length of the neck. The ebony fingerboard, with a radius of 355.6 mm, features 22 Jescar 47/104 nickel-silver frets, cut to allow for smooth bends. The 628.65 mm scale length retains the taut tension characteristic of D’Angelico guitars, striking a balance between mellow pop and edgier rock.
The pickup configuration makes all the difference: two Seymour Duncan STR52-1 single-coils (neck and middle) complemented by an SM-1b mini-humbucker at the bridge. The 5-position selector switch takes you from a clear, airy sound to a denser tone without losing sustain — a rare tonal range for this body size. A single volume control, a single tone control: the electronics remain straightforward, with no need for fiddling about in the middle of a rehearsal.
A nickel-plated Tune-O-Matic bridge, Stopbar tailpiece and Grover 509 locking tuners ensure that the tuning holds up, gig after gig. A 5-ply cream mother-of-pearl F-hole-style pickguard, a matching backplate, a Deluxe badge and a mother-of-pearl D’Angelico New York logo complete the headstock.
