D'Angelico - Premier Gramercy LS Aged Mahogany

The Aged Mahogany finish tells a story of the workshop all on its own: that of wood that has been carefully aged, given a patina like that of an exceptional piece of furniture rather than simply painted for the occasion. The D’Angelico Premier Gramercy LS features a satin finish that allows the natural grain to be felt beneath the fingers, in a Grand Auditorium Single Cutaway body measuring 406.4 mm in width and 101.6 mm to 119.38 mm in depth.
The entire body – top, sides and back in laminated mahogany – forms a homogeneous block rarely seen at this price point: the wood speaks with a single voice, from the mellow bass to the clear treble. The X-Scalloped bracing unleashes this voice without harshness, complemented by a triple-ring ABS rosette that neatly rounds off the aesthetic.
The Scarf-joined mahogany neck, with a C-shape profile and dovetail joint, fits comfortably in the hand over a scale length of 647.7 mm. The Torrefied Merbau fingerboard, torrefied to enhance stability, features a 304.8 mm radius with 20 Medium Jumbo frets. The double-action truss rod, positioned near the rosette, ensures this structure remains stable over time.
The Torrefied Merbau Stairstep bridge and chrome-plated Stairstep Wave tuning machines define the instrument’s visual aesthetic. The D’Angelico MG-30 preamp, featuring EQ, volume control and a built-in tuner, transforms this acoustic instrument into a fully-fledged stage instrument. The 42.86 mm PPS nut and D’Addario EXP-16 strings round off this instrument, crafted in Indonesia, which is worthy of the great New York-based brands.
