The Gretsch Maple Stave snare drum is constructed from carefully assembled maple staves. This stave method, similar to barrel making, reduces the amount of glue and enhances the acoustic properties of the wood.
Maple is renowned for its tonal balance and versatility. Its clear, responsive tone adapts equally well to light hits and harder ones. The body is reinforced with 8mm rings for stability and sustain. The 30° chamfers ensure precise contact between the heads and the wood. The 20-strand timbre with brass parts responds sensitively.
