The Chief Disruptor is the most flexible, beautifully balanced and LOUDEST muff-type pedal you'll ever hear, featuring three different gain modes, a clean mix before or after EQ, active bass and treble controls, foot-switchable parametric EQ and expression pedal control, plus a switchable top-boost for an even more raucous and gritty bite. Over time, different Muff circuits have had different levels of gain, so KMA Machines has selected 3 very distinct gain structures:
- Vintage mode (VTG) will give you all the nuances of an overdrive
- Tight mode will give you a more modern and tight sound with less bass and biting harmonics
- Heavy mode is the essence of the Muff sound: heavy, thick, with sustain, big bass and mellow midrange.
More modern flexibility has been added with Bass and Treble controls that boost or cut the bass and treble by up to 15dB, while the parametric midrange EQ has settings for the centre frequency and a Cut/Boost selector.
The centre frequency can be controlled by an external expression pedal, the frequency width (Q) has its own internal setting and the midrange has its own Mids footswitch.
With highly saturated midrange and bass, the impression can be given of a loss of treble, which can be remedied with the Top Boost selector, the level of which can be adjusted internally.
To preserve your original sound, the Chief Disruptor has a Clean setting to dose the sound of your instrument and a selector to define its insertion point.
Insert your original signal before the EQ section for a more cohesive sound, or place it after EQ so that it's not affected at all.
