Presentation
The Lindell Audio PEQ-501a follows in the great tradition of Pultec-type passive equalizers, renowned for their ability to sculpt the sound spectrum with smoothness and musicality. Designed for the 500 series format, it takes the fundamental principles of the original EQP-1A and adapts them to the demands of modern studios.
Its design is based on a completely discrete architecture, combining a gain amplifier based on the vintage 1731 OPA and a hand-wound inductor. This combination produces a natural response, with full, solid bass and open, silky, non-aggressive treble. The PEQ-501a is particularly appreciated for processing vocals, bass, drums or stereo busses requiring depth and presence.
The notched rotary controls make it easy to recall settings precisely, which is essential when mixing or mastering. Low and high frequencies are selected in steps, allowing quick and consistent adjustments, while retaining the organic character of passive equalisers.
True hardware bypass allows reliable A/B comparisons, without unwanted signal coloration. The transformer-balanced output ensures excellent signal integrity and optimum compatibility with all 500 series chassis on the market.
Designed first and foremost as a musical tool, the PEQ-501a does not seek surgical correction, but rather sonic embellishment. It brings relief, warmth and an immediately identifiable analogue signature, faithful to the spirit of classic American equalisers.
