Equalizer
A 500 series passive equaliser inspired by vintage Pultec circuits, the PEX-500VIN combines musical filtering, input and output transformers and completely discrete electronics for precise bass and treble work.

Presentation
The Lindell Audio PEX-500 Vintage Edition is a passive equalizer in the 500 series format that takes the architecture and sonic approach of historic Pultec equalizers and adapts it to the constraints and uses of modern API racks. It is based on an entirely discrete design, incorporating transformer-coupled balanced inputs and outputs, and a gain stage based on the Vintage OPA1731 amplifier.
The PEX-500VIN's approach favours broad, musical processing rather than surgical modelling. Bass frequencies benefit from a passive inductor circuit that provides both accentuation and attenuation at key frequencies, with a characteristic behaviour that reinforces the bass without weighing down the lower midrange. The high frequencies, worked on using boosts and separate attenuation, provide openness and softness without aggressiveness, while remaining faithful to the aesthetics of classic passive equalizers.
The controls are deliberately simple, based on three-position selectors for quick, reproducible adjustments that are ideal for studio work. This philosophy encourages intuition and musicality, whether on individual tracks, busses or subgroups. The hardware bypass circuit allows the EQ to be completely removed from the signal path when necessary, without alteration.
Compatible with all API-compliant 500 series chassis, the PEX-500VIN is aimed at users looking for an EQ with a strong character, capable of providing substance, depth and a recognisable analogue signature, while remaining easy to integrate into an existing processing chain.
