To find out more...
In 2008, Marcus Miller released the album Marcus, a personal project in which he explored his musical and family roots. The album explores African-American history and includes narrative elements such as extracts from speeches and testimonies. Musically, it blends funk, jazz and African influences. The album received a positive critical reception and showed a more introspective side to his work. It confirms his ability to conceive conceptual projects in which music also serves as a medium for deep and committed historical and cultural reflection.
