Native Instruments - Absynth 6 (licence)
With Absynth 6, Native Instruments unfolds before you a sonic territory where every texture breathes, stretches and transforms as you play, like a digital creature shaped by your own imagination. This hybrid synth fuses the flexibility of the semi-modular with an almost organic approach to sound design, to generate shifting layers, fluid timbres and auditory landscapes that seem to grow on their own under your fingers. The architecture blends subtractive, FM, granular and wavetable synthesis in a dynamic of constantly renewed creation, with a temperament that is both unpredictable and inspiring. Every movement becomes matter: the multi-segment envelopes sculpt living forms, the internal effects weave weightless halos and the visual navigation gives you the sensation of piloting a sound laboratory at the heart of the future. It's a space for free expression, tailor-made for sound dreamers who prefer to sculpt rather than simply turn knobs.
Presentation
The Mutator acts like a laboratory companion, capable of generating new variants of a preset in the blink of an eye. You select the depth, adjust the amount of randomness and watch the sound mutate beneath your fingers, with a full history to go back to if your experimentation goes too far. This approach makes sound design playful, almost organic, and gives each creation a touch of controlled randomness that feeds inspiration.
With MPE compatibility and polyphonic aftertouch, every nuance of your playing becomes a vector of emotion. You make textures breathe, harmonics stretch and project expressive movements that only this generation of synths can convey. Integration with Native Instruments hardware via the Kontrol or Maschine keyboards further enhances this sense of continuity, as if the instrument were anticipating your gestures. And because the interface has been completely redesigned, the workflow becomes fluid: visual navigation, live wave editing, classification of presets by ambience or intensity. All in all, Absynth 6 is a genuine extension of the musical gesture, designed for exploratory composers.

Connect your set-up to an audio interface offering minimal latency; you'll enjoy smoother playback when you modulate several parameters at once. You should also use accurate headphones to capture the full timbre you've just created, especially in granular textures. A velocity- and MEP-sensitive master keyboard will also help you get the most out of dynamic envelopes, while keeping control of the gesture.
