Presentation
The Patina PS-7 PP R Purple guitar is the sort of guitar you pick up and everything just clicks straight away. With its HSS configuration, you can play clean tones, slightly crunchy rhythm parts or thicker solos without having to switch instruments. The paulownia body with a nitro relic finish gives it a well-worn look, as if it’s already seen its fair share of gigs. And that purple really stands out under the lights!
The satin-finished roasted maple neck feels great the moment you lay your hand on it; it doesn’t stick and doesn’t tire your hand. The Modern C profile and 13.75" radius make both chords and solos a natural pleasure to play. The 22 stainless steel jumbo frets glide smoothly, even when you start playing a bit faster. The side inlays glow in the dark, which is handy when the stage is dimly lit.
The HSS Alnico V pickups offer an easy-to-understand tonal palette: bright and crisp in single-coil mode, and thicker and more punchy with the humbucker. The bridge pickup delivers greater presence when you crank up the amp a bit. The middle positions retain that bright, snappy quality that works well for rhythm playing. The volume and two tone controls let you tone the sound down or open it up without getting lost in the settings.
As for the rest, it’s a guitar that doesn’t complicate your life. The self-locking tuners hold the strings securely when you’re bending them or using the vibrato. And when you’re playing normally, you don’t have to retune every five minutes.
