Rme - AES25 PRO M Yamaha/F Tascam 50cm

The Yamaha/F Tascam RME AES25 PRO M addresses a very specific issue in professional digital audio cabling. Two pieces of equipment may use an AES/EBU connection on a D-Sub 25 connector whilst not sharing the same pinout. In this case, a simple D-Sub to D-Sub cable is not sufficient. The specific layout of inputs, outputs and earth connections for each format must be adhered to.

This RME model ensures precisely this compatibility between the Yamaha standard and the TASCAM format. The male end uses the Yamaha pinout, whilst the female connector uses the TASCAM pinout. The cable thus allows two AES3 devices compatible with these different architectures to be connected directly, without the need for an XLR breakout or an intermediate box. RME also provides separate documentation for the TASCAM and Yamaha pinouts for its AES connections on D-Sub 25.

This adapter can be useful in a digital control room housing equipment from different manufacturers, in a rack combining several generations of equipment, or when integrating a Yamaha device into a system using TASCAM-format interfaces. The connection remains entirely digital and retains the multi-channel configuration specific to the D-Sub 25 connector.

The 50 cm length is designed for short-distance use. It minimises excess cable behind the equipment and is particularly suitable for connections between devices installed in the same rack or in two adjacent slots. This short length also makes it easier to organise the cabling when several AES connections are grouped together in the same location.
