The digital connection via D-Sub 25 allows several AES/EBU channels to be combined into a single socket, but pin-out compatibility between the two pieces of equipment remains essential. The RME AES25 Tascam PRO 1m is specifically designed for this type of direct connection, featuring two male D-Sub 25 connectors wired to the TASCAM standard.

This AES/EBU digital cable can be used, in particular, to connect audio interfaces, converters and professional equipment featuring AES3 inputs and outputs on D-Sub 25 connectors. RME uses this architecture on several of its digital devices, notably its AES interfaces, which feature four AES inputs and four AES outputs grouped on a single D-Sub connector.

The internal wiring is cross-connected to match the digital inputs and outputs between the two devices. It is therefore suitable for direct connections between devices sharing the same TASCAM format, without the need for an XLR splitter or multiple separate cables. This design ensures a short and easily identifiable signal path within a digital setup.

With an impedance of 110 ohms, the RME AES25 Tascam PRO meets the specifications used for professional AES3 transmissions. RME’s ALVA AES/EBU Multicore range is advertised as compatible with signals up to 192 kHz.

The 1-metre length is particularly well-suited to internal rack connections or to equipment situated in the immediate vicinity. The black cable, 14 mm in diameter, is fitted with male D-Sub 25 connectors with a 4/40 UNC thread. The RME AES25 Tascam PRO 1m thus provides a compact digital link for audio installations, studios, control rooms and systems using the TASCAM AES/EBU pinout.
