This RME AI25 8XPRO 10m multi-pair cable enables a D-Sub 25 multi-channel audio connection to be routed to eight female XLR connectors when equipment is installed at a distance from one another. It is particularly suitable for set-ups where an interface or converter is housed in a technical rack, whilst the eight channels need to be routed to a mixing desk, patch panel or another area of the control room. The eight numbered XLR connectors ensure that channels remain clearly identified despite the length of the cable run.
Presentation
The D-Sub 25 male to 8 × XLR female configuration meets the requirements of many studio and control room installations using multi-channel analogue connections. Grouping the eight channels within a single cable reduces the number of cables that need to be routed and simplifies the overall cabling layout.
The 10-metre length provides ample scope for installations where equipment is located at a distance. It can, for example, be used between an equipment rack and a mixing desk, between several racks, or to connect an audio interface situated some distance from the patch panel. The multicore cable thus carries all eight channels in a single run instead of using eight separate cables.
The eight female XLR connectors are individually numbered to facilitate channel identification. This numbering system allows each channel to be located quickly during connection and simplifies work on an installation comprising several analogue links.
The construction incorporates the features of RME’s ALVA Analog Multicore range, with a black sheath 14 mm in diameter. The male D-Sub 25 connector uses a 4/40 UNC thread for attachment to compatible equipment. The RME AI25 8XPRO 10m is therefore an ideal choice for multi-channel analogue audio installations requiring a long connection between D-Sub 25 and XLR.
