Rme - Module SFP MADI Monomode
The RME Single-Mode MADI SFP Module adds a single-mode optical MADI SFP transceiver to compatible RME devices. It accepts an LC Duplex fibre connector and can be used with SC MADI cables thanks to the 2-metre fibre cable and the female-to-female SC adapter supplied.
Presentation
This product is exclusively the Single Mode version, identified as ‘SM’ on the module and its packaging. The fibre used must therefore be compatible with this technology: RME specifies a maximum range of 20 km with 9/125 µm fibre. The module features an LC Duplex connector, whilst many MADI devices have traditionally used SC connectors.
The contents of the kit facilitate this adaptation. RME supplies a 2-metre optical fibre and an SC female to SC female coupler. This combination allows existing MADI cables fitted with SC connectors to be retained, without limiting the connection to the module’s LC connector alone. The kit therefore provides a practical solution for integrating a single-mode optical MADI interface into an existing cabled installation.
The module is part number 1001060 and can be installed on several RME devices: 12Mic, AVB Tool, M-1610 Pro, M-32 Pro II, M-32 Pro II-D, M-1620 Pro, M-1620 Pro D and HDSPe AoX. It is important to distinguish this single-mode version from the multi-mode model: both technologies require equipment and cabling compatible with the same type of transmission.
