Presentation
The RTW Immersive Sound Analyzer is an analysis tool designed to meet the needs of modern immersive audio formats, in particular Dolby Atmos-type configurations in 5.1.4 or 7.1.4. It follows on from the RTW measurement tools already used in broadcast and post-production, while extending their logic to environments where the number of channels becomes much greater.
The aim of this instrument is to provide an immediate and usable reading of a complex sound field. Rather than limiting itself to traditional level or loudness indicators, it offers a global representation of the energy and spatial distribution between the different layers of an immersive mix. The display distinguishes between the main and upper layers, and shows how they interact.
The tool highlights perception indicators such as signal dominance and phase coherence between adjacent channels. This allows you to quickly identify mix imbalances, downmix compatibility problems or inconsistencies in positioning in the soundstage.
The Immersive Sound Analyzer is aimed primarily at production environments where precise spatial rendering is critical: cinema post-production, advanced broadcast mixing or quality control of immersive content. Its user interface is similar to that of other RTW instruments, making it easy to integrate into existing workflows based around the TouchMonitor.
