This 21606XCB AAX Thin Crash 16" Brilliant really has its own way of getting into the game. As soon as the cue touches the surface, you can feel the responsiveness of the slimmer design and the little bell: the accent goes off cleanly, without waiting, like a little bolt of lightning shooting through the kit.
This 'super-fast' feel changes the dynamic of a set, especially when you like to work with short phrases, breathy accents and fast transitions.
The wider, rounder hammering creates a texture that can be felt as well as heard. There's a slightly dark veil, rather unexpected for an AAX, but which retains the brilliance needed to remain legible in a modern mix.
