The CL7a is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone designed for the studio environment.
Inside is a 28mm diaphragm, sputtered with a 3 micron thick layer of gold, which delivers a beautiful, balanced sound.
Soft mids and a slight rise in high frequencies around 15 kHz create a natural sound that conveys an acoustic ambience when used on instruments and lets vocal recordings breathe.
The CL7a includes a 10dB attenuation pad, which is used to avoid overloading the on-board preamplifier by lowering the input sensitivity of the preamp circuit.
This is useful when recording close to loud sound sources with very high transient sounds, such as drums, cymbals or brass instruments.
A selectable 100 Hz high-pass filter suppresses unwanted low frequencies.
