Avantone Pro - CK-6 Classic

The Avantone Pro CK-6 Classic is a transformerless FET condenser microphone designed as a truly versatile workhorse for the studio. Its cardioid polar pattern prioritises the sound source in front of the capsule and minimises the pickup of sounds from behind.

The CK-6 Classic features a 30 mm centre-terminated capsule with a 6-micron gold-plated Mylar diaphragm. Its transformerless electronic circuit incorporates high-quality polystyrene and metallised polypropylene capacitors, which are integrated directly into the microphone’s standard design.

With a frequency response of 35 Hz to 20 kHz ±3.5 dB, the CK-6 Classic covers a wide range suitable for both vocals and a wide variety of acoustic and amplified instruments. Its sensitivity to detail makes it particularly suitable for use with vocals, acoustic guitars, pianos or drum overheads. It can also be used in front of high-output sound sources, such as an electric guitar amplifier.

To adapt the recording to different situations, the microphone features two independent controls. The -10 dB pad reduces the signal level reaching the electronics when recording sources with very high sound pressure levels. The 80 Hz high-pass filter, with a slope of 6 dB per octave, helps to reduce rumble and unwanted low frequencies.

The CK-6 Classic handles up to 136 dB SPL at 0.5 per cent THD at 1 kHz and has a noise equivalent level of less than 17 dB. It features a 3-pin male XLR output and requires standard 48 V / 5 mA phantom power.

Its Cabernet Red metallic body with polished nickel trim gives it the retro aesthetic characteristic of Avantone’s C series. The microphone comes with a Custom Retro shock mount and a carrying pouch.
