SE Electronics - X1 R

The sE Electronics X1 R takes the classic principles of the ribbon microphone and adapts them to modern uses. Its 2.5 micron aluminium capsule picks up the signal with a smoother response at the top end of the spectrum, limiting the harshness often encountered on certain sources.

This makes it particularly interesting for electric guitar pick-ups, brass instruments or drum overheads. Transients are slightly smoother, contributing to a more natural reproduction, particularly in situations where condenser microphones can sound too direct.

The figure-of-8 pick-up pattern captures both the source and its environment. This can be used to add more ambience to a recording or to manage off-axis sources.

The X1 R also incorporates a slight high-frequency extension, inspired by the brand's more high-end models. This feature preserves a certain level of definition while maintaining the signature typical of ribbon microphones.

It can be used on sources with high sound levels, such as a guitar amp or certain drum elements, without requiring any particular precautions linked to acoustic pressure in everyday use.

Its passive operation does not require phantom powering, while remaining protected in the event of activation on a console or interface.
