The sE Electronics sE8 Cardioid follows a clear approach: to offer a small-diaphragm microphone capable of covering a wide range of applications without compromising on accuracy. Its hand-crafted 1/2" condenser capsule ensures a fast, detailed response, particularly useful on transient-rich sources such as cymbals, percussion or acoustic instruments.

The rendering is distinguished by a controlled balance across the entire spectrum. High frequencies remain defined without being aggressive, while the midrange remains legible, even in busy environments. This neutrality means it can be used as a drum overhead as well as for piano, acoustic guitar or orchestral ensembles.

From a technical point of view, the sE8 has a particularly low noise level for its category, making it ideal for studio recording of dynamic sources or fine ambiences. Its ability to handle high SPL levels also means that it can be placed close to powerful sources without saturation, and with stable behaviour.

The built-in controls provide real flexibility of use. The -10 / -20 dB pad makes it easy to manage loud sources, while the switchable low-cut filter (80 or 160 Hz) can be used to control unwanted bass or structure-borne noise. These options allow the microphone to be adapted quickly to different recording environments.
