To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 5 million-selling album “Moving Pictures,” Tech 21 has released the MP40 Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp Limited Edition pedal. It takes inspiration from the iconic YYZ with black and red artwork based on the album cover. Featuring a switchable Boost that adds 12dB of high-end distortion, it also introduces the Shape-shifter button. This pickup delivers 6dB of “Schmegilka,” a sonic subtlety that Geddy Lee describes as pure acoustic excellence.

The Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp Limited Edition MP40 Bass Preamp Pedal uses analog technology to record directly and enhance existing tracks.
For live performances, this unit can connect directly to a power amp. It can also drive speakers or connect to a PA mixer. Its Mix control combines clear, defined timbres (Deep) with saturated tube amp tones (Drive).
A Tight knob sharpens note definition, adding clarity, even in more saturated settings.
The Boost function provides 12 dB of gain in the treble for increased distortion. The Shape-shifter mode adds 6 dB of "Schmegilka". This is a concept invented by Geddy Lee that allows for a powerful tone. The Drive control adjusts gain and overdrive, simulating the effect of pushing a tube amp to its limits.
This reference is equipped with a 3-band active EQ and a master volume, and can be powered by a 9V battery or an external Tech 21 DC9 power supply (not included).
