The API 500a is a modular 3-band 500 Series EQ with 5 API-selected pivot frequencies, 12dB Boost/Cut per band and proportional Q control. This is a true classic, reintroduced in 2004, which offers an incredible level of control, and excels on tone changes or inversions.

Presentation
Few equalizers enjoy the respect and admiration of the coveted API 550 A. Designed by the now legendary Saul Walker, the discreet 550A was first used as a modular OEM equalizer. As the industry quickly embraced the sound quality of the 550A, it soon found its way into many custom console designs by Frank DeMedio and other top engineers. Many of these consoles are still in use today.
Forty years on, the API 550A EQ remains THE benchmark against which countless EQs are measured, and it has played a major role in the recording industry for decades.
Imitated but never duplicated, the 550a became API's standard EQ module when the company began manufacturing consoles in 1971. With almost all existing units already reserved, popular demand for this EQ resulted in a resumption of production of the API 550A in 2004.
Reissued in its original modular form (after a long and eagerly awaited wait), the API 550 A puts a little music history into your 500 Series chassis.
It offers 3 bands of classic API equalisation, with 5 API-selected pivot frequencies available on each band.
