Avantone Pro - MixCubes Active (la paire)

Most recording studios use 2- or 3-way monitoring speakers, to represent a broad listening reference at high levels. But you should not forget to also listen to your mix on a system limited in low frequencies, such as a television, radio, computer, car radio, iPod dock, etc. This allows you to realize the rendering of your mix, on any medium.

It is important to remain very attentive to the midrange frequencies of vocals/guitar/keyboard. This is where wide-band listening without filtering becomes very useful.

The Avantone Pro Active Mixcubes bring this very soft sound, with the benefit of wide-band reproduction, compared to the original 5C Sound Cubes. Listening tests reveal that the MixCubes offer a soft, more open, transparent response in the high end of the spectrum with an extended response in the bass, while retaining their initial basic character.

The Avantone Pro MixCube mini monitors provide excellent sound reproduction, for a reference mix. The subwoofers are shielded, so that they can be placed next to computer screens, without risk of disturbance.

What struck the Sonovente technicians during the listening was the purity of the Avantone sound in terms of distortion, compared to the Auratones they had previously used or, in fact, compared to any affordable speaker. This is particularly noticeable in the low frequencies, and this characteristic combined with the transient speed, the reinforced paper cone, make the MixCubes extremely revealing of any distortion.

When placing the Avantone MixCubes on stands or consoles, it is best to keep them at ear height and slightly tilted towards the sound engineer. Since they are shielded, they can be placed close to a screen or TV without causing problems. Microphone stand-compatible threads on the bottom of the speakers will also allow you to create creative positioning options in unusual studio listening situations.
